Top 10 most visited websites of 2011
Kaleazy
"The Dilema of researching this topic"
Attempting to list the hottest trending websites for 2011 isn't as easy as you think, because there's many web locations that specialize in checking for differing statistics. As I went and dove into google to do the research, I was soon confronted with the not so obvious task of choosing which source to reference for such a hub.
I found a cool web location as well as a specific way to present this sought out topic's info, all I needed to do was to look for a specified Top characteristic of a specific trend, such as the most visits to a website.
This was how I was able to find a topic to write on, & for an objective that wasn't so clear starting out such as creating a Top Websites Review or just a listing for the years end. I chose "Kaleazy" to do the job, its a cool website I found on Google to help me with this review. (Image shown above upper right)
The way I approached this particular stat, is where other people need to be truly careful & accurate with, prior to attempting to do the same as I done here with this very hub. What I quickly found to be a difficult task, was at first something very simple in my mind. Since there's millions of search results on any topic in general, a great deal of inspection must be done after locating what may appear to be a best result or most proficient resource to utilize.
The Results are in for the most visited websites of 2011
"Below is a cool Icon I just recently worked on hope you dig it"
Google # 1
Coming in at number 1 for the most visited website for 2011 is Google, monopolizing major portions of the web with a simple search field, Google has become the worlds go to resource & is becoming ever so powerful, by gaining ground in many area's of the web as well as in many area's of technology.
Facebook #2
There's not much to say about FaceBook other than the fact that this was expected, if not was even projected at the beginning of the year to possibly take out Google's massive head start of catching the attention of online visitors seeking web content, communications & much more, it was not so surprising that they've managed to come strikingly close to the top spot of second place.
Yahoo #3
No one would of thought that Yahoo, could even compete anymore on any level since Google has taken the hot seat many years back, but I personally believe that it holds its own up against the other two web giants & all the rest. This may be due to the fact that yahoo is the only search engine that boasts a bright colorful news stream, that many people find very attractive & addictive in its quick buzzing reach to the online viewer.
Youtube # 4
I think Youtube should have came in number 3 for the most visited websites for 2011, because everyone wants to attempt a shot at earning a passive income from it or maybe even hitting the jackpot by going viral there. What is going "viral", on a place like Youtube, well ummm.
Is it like, spreading computer viruses through videos, or could it be people actually getting sick by watching videos. None of the above actually, going viral on Youtube relates to the fact that some lucky upload from someone literally catch the attention of millions of viewers, possibly earning the originator a huge payoff if the video had been monetized there.
Amazon # 5
Who would of known that many years ago, before the Internet became the most important tool everyone depended on for info worldwide, that one day everything would be on it that you could think of. Well here we are in 2011 some odd 16 years ago around the time it first began getting commercialized. Online today there's a great deal of things to choose from in terms of Shopping especially from a web location such as this one above.
Amazon has done just that for the everyday shopping fanatic, & average person looking for convenience as well as for businesses that need stuff shipped from literally anywhere on the globe, to anywhere on the globe. Wow is all I will say about how huge Amazon has grown to become since it's first release onto the web. Simply Amazon! (Amazing)
Wikipedia #6
Looking for knowledge look no further, simply type wikipedia into your web browser or favortie search engine & your there. I'm sure everyone knows by now that Wikipedia is in a class of its own as the most sought out digital reference for anything that has a historical record on the entire globe. Enough has been said here, they definitely deserve this royal position of #6.
"The Top Encyclopedia on the web today"
Twitter #7
Who would have thought web Gossip or "Tweeting" would go so far, this twitter thingy is powerful. many people had no clue what a Twitter or tweet is, when it first came out, but they surely caught on quick. Everyone from athletes, actors, musicians, artists, workers, business owners, corporations, you name it is communicating on twitter in an all out attempt to get their word out.
Look at the way we all are communicating on it today, by the looks of it all I gotta say Tweeting is quite "Awesome" today, & thanks to all them widget apps being spread across the web from website to website, spreading the convo's even further. Its truly getting outrageous & in a good way I guess.
Eblogger #8
Blogging has become a phenomenon ever since it first began getting popular back in 1999, where it had began its widespread use across the web. Today blogging has grown to become a sensational way to get your individual message across to a global audience of web surfers.
Eblogger has become the #1 popular choice for the average person looking to make it happen. Since blogging first began till now the total number of blogs in circulation known to date is 156 million, according to wikipedia.
Craigslist #9
When it comes to a websites overall appearance, functionality, & usability this one isn't the best in the bunch. Craigslist definitely is one website that has its benefits & out numbers its competition when it comes to personal info that can be found in a news papers classified section.
People have been sharing what they can sell to others, how they can trade thing, employment, posting jobs, and a vast assortment of other everyday things with Craigslist, making it all so necessary and hard to defeat. One one tops it all when it comes to Craigslist & that one word is "Simplicity". On the web the more simplistic a site is the more people may return, & especially if it has a great deal of resource info to connect with.
Windows Live "Hotmail" aka MSN #10
MSN originally stood for the Microsoft Network, & is now an awesome competitor maintaining Microsoft's powerful digital kingdom on the web with things like Hotmail (email client), Windows Live Skydrive (Cloud synchronization of data), & a great deal more online powers being offered mostly for free by Windows Live or MSN.
They also have the X-box version of Windows Live, which is Microsoft's gaming system, the windows live feature allows for synchronization of their online communications between gamers & the Internet allowing for uploading & downloading of data as well. Windows will be here for a great deal longer, because Microsoft is the key to why it all started in the first place, they're not going anywhere.

There's a single location on the web, that has been designed for keeping up to date with every new, and old online jewel that gets released, so that people can have a place to resource as they see fit when they may forget, or misplace some knowledge of it all. CloudTops is that place & is newly made to suit all interests and only show cases the most well known web locations as well as those, many people, have yet to discover (no web trash what so ever).
Purpose:
It was developed as a web location dedicated to helping people locate what works best online today as a interactive web guide back in April 2010. It has become a massive storage place for the most frequented web locations, as well as the most unknown that many people won't find without having knowledge of it. It attempts to bring an end to the puzzling question that a search field poses to its users prior to navigating for web locations for random web surfing or repeated searches.
Compatibility:
Since its a flash website it requires the usage of a laptop or desktop, it won't work on most mobile devices, it would simply default to its mobile version. The mobile version only is a pathway and info into where to find it on either a laptop or desktop, It also isn't compatible yet with Ipads and most apple products due to their refusal to utilize adobe flash.

Cheers! to your safe web travels in 2012 & may you have a great experience reading and writing on hubpages.

Very interesting a good article, although the one with craiglist, not sure anymore they have been on the news a bit in this area where people have been misusing it to do a great deal of misfortunes, but voted up and useful article thanks for sharing. lyns Happy Holidays...
I must say I've been or used them all except for one - eBlogger.
Facebook has tons of fines for cheating advertisers. Wikapedia allows anybody to write on the site, so information is not reliable contrary to what many think due to name of site which implies an online encylopedia. But the writer is not writing about these things, just the top 10 sites on Internet these days. It doesnt mean that they are reputable.
tnks for all the kind responses, I love using them all.
No surprise there, Google followed by Facebook. Though I expected Twitter to be above YouTube.
Yeah I also thought Twitter would make closer to the top spot, but you never really know with the web.
Very interesting results of your research. I too am surprised that Twitter is not a little higher on the list. Congratulations on your Interactive Web Guide!
Thanks
